It’s a great way to keep your skin feeling fresh and nourished.
However, the fish stick is made from an ingredient called fish collagen, which can be rancid.
If you’re eating the fish, you’re putting yourself at risk of eating the skin.
Here’s how to clean your fish stick.
1.
Wash the fish in hot water and set aside.
2.
Peel the skin off of the fish and rinse in hot, soapy water.
3.
Place the skin in a bowl with 1 teaspoon of salt and 1/2 teaspoon of pepper.
4.
Add a little bit of water and let sit for a few minutes.
Rinse out the bowl and repeat the process for the other side.
5.
Let the skin sit at room temperature for at least 24 hours, or overnight.
6.
The fish skin should be soft and dry.
7.
Peel back the skin and add the remaining 1/4 teaspoon of the salt and pepper.
8.
Add the fish collagen and cook for 5 minutes.
Remove the fish from the skin, discard the collagen and let the fish sit in the water for another 30 minutes.
9.
Remove any remaining fish skin and the skin should feel soft and elastic.
10.
Add water and mix with the fish skin to form a paste.
11.
Cover and refrigerate at least 1 hour, or until the fish has reached room temperature.
12.
You can make the paste yourself, using a blender or food processor.
13.
Remove from the fridge and let it sit in your refrigerator for up to 30 minutes before slicing.
14.
Once the fish is ready to eat, cut into cubes and serve immediately.
15.
If your fish sticks are not getting as many bites as they should, use a little of the liquid left in the bowl to thicken the fish.
You don’t want the skin to be too thick, so add a bit of liquid to thin out the surface of the skin before eating. 16. Enjoy!
